German Christmas Markets

The German Christmas Celebrations are a mixture of heritage of people, food and religious customs. The German Christmas Markets is one of those customs.

The German's celebrate Advent and it is called Lichtwochen, which means 'light weeks'. Carol singing is a popular Advent and Christmas custom.

The German Christms Markets are famous and offer a way to prepare for Christmas. At them you will find traditional German Christmas foods, crafts and gifts can be found at their many, busy stalls. The famous Nuremberg market commences on the Friday closest to December 4, St Barbara's Day. Most of the Christmas markets are open throughout advent.
