Christmas Tablecloth

Dress up a bright red or green tablecloth by sewing little golden or silver bells to the hem. Everyone will enjoy the occasional jingles at the table as they brush against the cloth.

Another idea for a special Christmas tablecloth is to make a sparkling net overlay. Use one of your own tablecloths that is a good size cover for the table and cut a piece of plain white netting to the same size. Applique it with large red felt poinsettias, with sequins pasted on for some added sparkle. Then use it to cover the cloth underneath which can still be used for other occasions.

You could make a bright holiday runner to contrast with your usual tablecloth. Edge the runner with gold rick-rack and decorate it with Christmas motifs.

A “wrapped” Christmas table is easy to achieve by taking two strips of extra-wide satin ribbon and running them across the table to resemble a gift. Tie a large flat bow in one corner.
