Christmas Vacations
Increasingly, families are taking vacations away from home. For many people home is the best place to enjoy Christmas, but some seek a new and different way to spend their Christmas vacation. As with any decision, there are pros and cons as to where you would most enjoy spending your next Christmas vacation.
Celebrating Christmas the traditional way, where you wither travel to family member’s house or they to yours and stay for a few to several days if they live in a different city. Certainly, spending time with loved ones that may only visit once a year is a greatly important part of Christmas to many people., but it is also a lot of work. Whether you are hosting or visiting, there is much to do in order to prepare for such a group celebration.
Try something different! Instead of spending hours and hours planning and shopping, cleaning and decorating, consider taking a vacation. Christmas vacations can be just as fun as a regular vacation, except that if you plan things right you can avoid the rush and crunch at the airports. This tends to fall on certain key days before and after Christmas, so if you can stagger your travel dates somewhat, which will be easier since you do not have to synchronize with extended family members.
Why not go skiing. A Christmas vacation ski trip can be a perfect way to celebrate Christmas with your significant other, your immediate family or even yourself. This is a great time to stay at a ski resort, as many people will be at home celebrating Christmas and you will have greater access to services and slopes. Many ski resorts will bring Christmas tress or a Menorah, as well as personalized Christmas stockings to your room during a Christmas vacation stay.
Many hotels and resorts also have their own special holiday festivities and traditions during winter. There is a legendary New Year’s Ball at Badrutt’s Place Hotel in St. Moritz. In Round Hill in Jamaica hotel staff dress up in Santa Claus suits and serve eggnog on the beach.
