Scented Christmas Tree Sachets
Sachets filled with herbs and spices look pretty hanging on your Christmas Tree. They also make everything smell fresh and airy. In folklore, rosemary stands for remembrance and cedar for strength of feeling. These two make ideal fillings for you sachet.
Firstly decide on a shape, you may like to use a heart, diamond, round or mini tree shape.
• Cut out two sides from a pretty piece of fabric, such as bright gingham. (Scraps of shot silk or bits of antique brocade can be made up into exquisite sachets.)
• Sew up the edges of the fabric leaving an opening.
• Turn so the stitched edging is on the inside.
• Pad with light stuffing (quilt batting is ideal).
• Place a spoonful of scented potpourri mixture inside the padding and sew that up.
• Stitch up the top and decorate with ribbon or silken cord to make a loop to hang the sachet by.
